MOnitoring of CHAROPHYTES in the czech republic

Charophytes are macroscopic green algae from the order Charales (Streptophyta, Viridiplantae). It belongs among the diagnostic species of priority European important habitat 3140 Hard oligo-mesotrophic waters with benthic vegetation of Chara spp., thanks to that it is a group of organisms important from the point of view of nature protection.


For the Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic we regularly monitor the occurrence of Charophytes in selected localities, for those interested from the professional and public we determine their collections and provide consultations about the management of localities with occurrence of Charophytes. At the same time, we are the authors of the methodology for monitoring of habitats from the 3140 group within the set of other methodologies certified by the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic (file no. 43175 / ENV / 17).
